How to Get a Marriage License
If
you are an adult citizen of the United States (age 22 and over), both
parties must present their social security number. There is no waiting
period for the license. The marriage license is good for 30 days and
must be used in the state of Tennessee only. The cost of the license is
$97.50. The cost of the license can be reduced to $37.50 if you have certification
of 4
hours of premarital counseling.
If you are an

15-18 years of age and a citizen of the United States, you must have
both parents accompany and sign for consent. Both parties must present
birth certificates. There is a five-day waiting period.
If
you are 15 years of age and under, you must have a court order from
Juvenile Court, and this would waive the five-day waiting period.

may obtain your marriage license at these locations: (Please note that justices of the peace
are not readily available at the following offices. Prior arrangements
must be made by wedding party with officials/clergy to perform
ceremony.)
